Travel to Cartagena

Hi, I´m Tepha. The other day, I listened to two persons that talked about "Costeños" They said that everybody was the same: noise, lazy, but they had a beautiful beach. Many stereotypes. I show today my experience in Cartagena and their culture.

GASTRONOMY

Well, such as good Colombian, I talk to you first of food. In Cartagena, you can foods that no see in other parts of Colombia. For example: "Butifarra", "Mote", "bollo", "suero".

It is a fresh sausage composed of minced pork seasoned with salt and pepper. I remember when I walked for a street and a woman was a big cooking pot with many butifarras. Those are delicious.

The "mote" is a soup with cheese. I know, is stranger, even so, is an amazing plate. You have to eat it one day.

The "suero" is a kind of cream-based on whole cow's milk and rennet. This you can spread on rice, yucca. I confess this isn´t my favorite.

The "bollo" is a dough of corn, yucca or coconut wrapped in leaves. My favorite is coconut.

CULTURAL PRACTICES

My friend Emily invited me to a " Bonche". OK, let's go. But, I didn't know that it was a " Bonche". However, We went to Camilo's house. There had many chairs, many people, liqueur, and music. A purpose, everyone thinks costeños only listen to vallenato, instead, the salsa music is very listened to here. Well, a man that used a costume started to dance and applaud, we laughed. I enjoyed much.

TOURIST PLACES

Surely you've heard of these some places. The "Torre del Reloj", the " Muralla", the "Castillo San Felipe", India Catalina monument, Naval museum, "zapatos viejos" monument, the beautiful historical center. These places are majestic and represent our history.

BEACHES

Boca Grande is the most visited beach in Cartagena. Here I eat a delicious Shrimp cocktail and an "arepa" with coffee. I love coffee and on the beach, this tastes better.

Other beaches, such as Playa Blanca, are more distant that Boca grande.

Whether I continue to talk about Cartagena I will never finish. Please, tell me, if you have visited Cartagena, How was your trip? and If didn´t it, you should do it. In Cartagena, you can visit many places and enjoy it with its people.
